Episode 1

“I got another woman pregnant.” Ekene said to his wife Sophia. Before he got home that night, he had made up his mind to say the whole truth instead of trying to hide it. He knew his wife would not like to hear it but he believed it was the best thing to do.

“It was a mistake, but I will tell the girl to keep the baby. A scan shows she is expecting a baby boy. I have always wanted a baby and you know we have not been able to have one since we got married ten years ago. I have been patient enough and I decided to try outside. Please, I still love you. Forgive me Sophia.” Ekene said. His voice had a measured tone, dropping each word with care.

“Okay. No problems. I’m happy for you. Congratulations!” Sophia said as she hugged her husband and left the living room to the bedroom where she slept off peacefully.

Ekene wondered why his wife did not get angry with him concerning the pregnancy. That night, he could not sleep beside his wife. He slept on the couch in the living room because he was unable to understand her attitude. Ekene was scared that his wife might use a kitchen knife to stab him to death if he sleeps on the same bed with her.

“What kind of woman hears that her husband got another lady pregnant and keeps quiet about the whole thing? Why didn’t she get angry? Why didn’t she ask any questions concerning the girl? Why didn’t she react in an angry way? This is very scary and I’m terrified.” Ekene said to himself while he lay on the sofa and stared on the white ceiling. From that night, Ekene made up his mind to keep a safe distance from his wife Sophia until he is convinced that she won’t harm him.

Sophia woke her husband up the next morning with breakfast which she prepared with much more love than she used to do in the past.

“Honey good morning. Hurry up and eat so that you will go to work.” Sophia said as she tapped her husband’s shoulder.

“And why did you sleep here last night? I was expecting you in bed. I’m sorry, I slept off and I didn’t realize you were not beside me. I missed you so much in bed my darling.” Sophia said. She left the living room. She was already dressed up for work as she is a teacher. When she went out, he husband went straight to the toilet and flushed the food she served him.

“How can I tell my wife that I got another woman pregnant and she never said a word of anger or questioned me about the identity of the lady? And to crown it all, she woke me up with delicious breakfast. I have reasons to believe that my life is in danger.” Ekene said. He got ready and went to work. It was when he got to work that he bought some food at the canteen and ate.

On his way back, he also bought some food and hid in his bag. He ate it in his car before he started to drive the final lap of the journey home. He already made up his mind not to eat his wife’s food. He had reasons to believe that she would poison him to death with rat poison.

“Welcome home darling! I have been patiently waiting for your return. What kept you so long? You must have had a hectic day at work today. Please, I boiled water for you to take your bathe. And when you are done, food is waiting for you at the dining. I have prepared your favourite egusi soup.” Sophia said as she collected her husband’s bag and helped him pull off his suit and then led him into the bathe room where he took his bathe.

As he showered, Ekene continued to think of how he would tell his wife that he cannot eat her food. That was practically impossible because she was waiting for him at the dining table. There was little he could do to avoid the egusi soup. In his mind, he was very convinced that the food was poisoned.

“Why is she treating me with so much love after I told her that I got another woman pregnant? This is very suspicious and not what I expected. I will find a way. I won’t eat that food. I don’t want to die yet.” Ekene said.

When he came out from the bathroom, he snatched his phone from the table and rushed out of the house.
“I have been asked to come back at work. I will be back soon. There is an emergency at the hospital and I must go and attend to it.” Ekene said. He is a medical doctor, so his wife must understand that emergencies like this happen from time to time. So, she didn’t say a word when he rushed out but merely looked with her eyes wide up.

Ekene did not return home that night. In the morning, he walked into the house looking tired and worn out. He passed the night in his car.

“Good morning honey. You are welcome. You must be very tired and you need rest.” Sophia said as she opened the door for her husband. It was a Saturday, so she would stay at home. Ekene went straight to bed and slept off.

In the evening, Sosphia served her husband another plate of the same egusi soup, but he started acting up again, trying to rush out of the house but Sophia blocked the door.

“I noticed you have not been yourself recently. What is the matter?” She asked Ekene.

“It’s nothing. I’m facing pressure at work. I just need some time to fix things.” Ekene lied.

“Stop it. You are lying to me. You are a medical consultant with fifteen years of experience. There is no pressure at work that would make you to reject your wife’s food. Or you think I didn’t know you flushed the food I served you the other day? You have been deliberately avoiding my food. You think I will poison you? Or, is it about the girl you got pregnant? My dear! I have no single problem with that. I’m absolutely happy about it. I’m happy we are having a child. In fact, I want you to bring her to start living with us. That would be very sweet!” Sophia said.

Ekene was shocked even more by his wife’s suggestion. He had expected her to get angry and move out of the house thereby finally giving him the chance to marry the girl he got pregnant. But Sophia’s reaction to the whole thing took him by surprise.

He was even more scared at the moment.

“May be she wants to poison the two of us together and kill the unborn baby.” Ekene said in his heart.

“Honey! Did you hear what I said?” Sophia asked, tapping her husband back to reality.

“Yes I heard you. I will think about it.” Ekene said. The next day, he informed Juliet that he would want her to come live in his house.

“Has your wife moved out? I don’t want to share you with anyone.” Juliet asked.

“Surprisingly, my wife has accepted for all of us to live together. In fact, the amount of love she has shown me since I broke the news to her has surprised me. I have not eaten her food since then. I don’t want to die of rat poison. Please, listen to me. Be very careful when you move into my house. Don’t eat anything she gives you and stay strictly on your lane until I find another apartment for us.” Ekene said.

The next day, Juliet moved into Ekene’s house.

"There is this archbishop and founder of one of the very popular pentecostal ministries in Nigeria that I met while I was in secondary school.

He organized an inter-schools debate competition and I represented my school. I won the competition, he gave me the prizes and promised to support me in my academics.

My dad died the previous year and my mum was having a hard time seeing us through school. I was so happy I could relieve her some burden on my side.

The bishop told me that I was free to come to his office whenever I need help. He placed me on a monthly salary for my academics which I always submitted to my mom.

He told me that he would like to meet my mum, I was surprised cos of his huge status...I didn't expect he will have such interest.

To my surprise he came to our house, saw my mom and told her how interested he was in me, how intelligent and smart I was and even went ahead to tell her that if it was possible for him to turn himself into a young guy, that he would do it and come to ask for my hand in marriage.

They laughed over it, he gave her 100k to take care of my waec registration and that of my two siblings cos we were in same class.

After he left, my mom gave me a prayer topic to start that night. Topic was to tell God that I'm very grateful for the destiny helper he sent my way through that bishop, and that he should please continue to control his heart not to go astray from the reason he sent him my way.

He refused and said that none of his workers knows his relationship with me and he doesn't need them to know. He gave me the option of following him home or forgetting about the salary for that month.

I chose the later and I left. He didn't even give me transport fare as usual. I trekked from there to our house and I told my mom what happened.

Since then, our relationship diminished to a point that he even avoids seeing me. Whenever I chat or call him, he would tell me that he's either critically sick and hospitalized or that he wasn't in the country.

I got admission into the university and he sent me 20k to support my registration. He also sends me monthly declaration message and still sends me birthday prayers and wishes every year.

I chat him myself once in a while to check on him. When I was about getting married, I called him to know if he was in Nigeria so I could bring him my invitation card with a wine or any other gifts but he told me he was not in Nigeria.

I called him some days later to know if he was okay at all but he didn't pick up. After 5months, he chatted me to check on me. I wasn't surprised cos that has been his behavior for over 5 years since that incident at his office.

I was happy he still remembers to check on me and I sincerely hold nothing against him. He was really sent by God to me and my family and I'll always be grateful for what God used him to do for us.

I gave birth few months later and a week after I was discharged, I chatted him and told that I gave birth. He rained congratulations on me and asked for her pictures which I sent to him. He responded that my baby is so beautiful and special and that was all.

Just 4 hours later, my baby began to cry uncontrollably. Everything we did to make her stop crying wasn't fruitful, she kept crying and jetting like someone having seizure. She even refused sucking breast.

This lasted for almost twenty minutes and we got so restless because since almost 2 weeks she was born, she hasn't cried like that before. She only cries when we are bathing her. She's always quiet and peaceful.

I wanted to try dialling my sister's number so I can speak to my mom and just immediately, my mom's call came in. I was surprised to see her call cos her phone is always switched off whenever she goes to church.

She asked about my daughter and I told her what was happening, she asked me who I sent my baby's picture to and I said nobody except few of my friends abroad.

She told me she had a strange sign of danger concerning my baby while in church so she switched on her phone immediately to call.

I was so scared and kept checking on her breathe almost every minute. She woke up after a long sleep and was back to normal.

My mom came after church and asked if I sent baby's picture to that bishop. For a minute, I was lost because if I'm to count my enemies or those that would hurt me or my child, he won't cross my mind.

She told me that the man is very occultic and there is no occultic person that would see the kind of star my daughter is carrying and wouldn't want to have it for him or herself.

I couldn't say a word, my mouth was just open. She said the man has done it to few of his members that brought their child for dedication and it's just few because its a rare kind of star to find amongst children.

I picked up my phone to give him a piece of mind and I found out that he had blocked me. That was even more shocking. Someone I chatted not up to six hours ago, we had no disagreement whatsoever, nothing at all.

I tried calling, he also blocked my line. I used my husband's line and checked him on Whatsapp, he was online, I called him and it rang. I was numb.

My mom gave me strict warnings on how to guard my daughter until she is of age. Till today, whenever I remember that man...I feel goosebumps all over me.

My daughter has brought us so much fortune that I cannot mention all. I got my first dollar in life as postnatal gift from someone I least expected..huge amount o.

Someone gave my husband a car gift, our business started booming again, our business associates that forgot us for years suddenly started remembering us, even our debtors that we already considered bad debts are paying us.

Nigerian singer, Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi , popularly known as Bella Shmurda, has broken silence over the death of his late close friend, Mohbad who died on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

The singer took to his Twitter (X) account to voice out his recent experience ever since his friend, singer Mohbad died.

In a statement posted on his X page, Shmurda claimed that Mohbad's spirit had not allowed him to rest since he died.

"My mom was very mad at me for not listening to her after hearing my experience that night. She got me a new phone that same week and I retrieved my line. Luckily for me, my SIM was backed up so I didn't lose my contacts. I was still traumatized and never stopped cursing those robbers.

After 3 weeks, I got a call from an unknown number and it was my boyfriend. He told me that a guy came to his shop to play bet wearing my silver bracelet, wristwatch and my red T-shirt. I immediately called the police officer I met when we wrote our statement.

I asked why he chose to stay there and he said he'd stay there for a short time before getting his own place. I didn't object to it.

One fateful day, I came to meet him at his uncle's place so we could go church. I met him dressing up with his uncle's cousins. I asked what the occasion was and he said they were going to hang out with one of their village guys that just came back from abroad.

"Why are you finding it difficulty to help me? Remember, it's me, your love. Please do this for me, and I assure you. You will never live to regret this, I swear. If you know you don't love me, why did you accept to be my girlfriend? Why do you want to disappoint me at this time when I need your help most? Why would you allow the devil to steal the love you have for me now? Why would you give the devil a chance? Tell me why?" Alfonso muttered faintly.

I was short of words. I didn't know the right word to say again that would gladden his mind. I was speechless for a while, searching for the right word to say.

"Please stop saying that. Why can't you also understand me? Why are you pressuring me to take what does not belong to me? This is very risky, you know. I am scared because I don't want to have a family issue with my elder brother. He would deny me and kick me out of his house. I am too young to start begging. I am too young to go into the street and live like I don't have a home. Please, try to understand my point here," I said, trying to stand my ground.

Consider my home to be your home, and consider me to be your father, brother, and another family at heart. I can't watch you go into the street and suffer. When we ended the call, I was lost in deep thought concerning what Alfonso told me. I didn't know what else to do because the business didn't belong to me. Besides, Alfonso is the only guy who I have fallen in love with. I love him so much and I didn't want to lose him either. Seeing him in such a critical situation made my heart shatter into tiny pieces. So I thought of a way to help him, but not particularly with the 10 million naira that he requested.

I also thought about what if he doesn't pay back. What if he runs away with the money and changes his line? So many things pondered in my mind that I could not understand. I also thought about what my brother would do to me if he found out about it.

I know my brother to be a hot-tempered person. He may kick me out of his house or may not train me in the university as he has promised to. He was already on the verge of fulfilling that as soon as I gained admission. To me, this was a temptation. My soul was tempted.

A lot of things came to my mind. I was scared and confused at the same time. While I was still thinking, I fell asleep on top of the sofa I was sitting on. I had a horrible and confusing dream.

A woman, a dark-skinned woman, was chasing after me with a long cane. The woman looked so ugly, tattered and helpless. She wanted me to help her with some money. According to her, if I did not help her, She would keep chasing me, and disturbing me till I made up my mind to help her.

"I can't help you. I am still a child. I don't have any money to help you. Please stop chasing after me and leave me alone." I pleaded with her but she was merciless. There was no sign of pity in her dictionary.

'You have so much money, you are rich, but you don't want to help me. I will make sure that you have no peace of mind until you help me. I will keep tormenting your life if you don't help me." She said.

I was scared. I looked at myself and wondered why she said I was rich. What did she really see in me that made her even think so? It was hilarious. Even though I was a rich person, was it by force to help someone? I didn't see the reason why her own case was different. To be frank, I haven't seen this kind of person in my life before.

I started running, but the slippers I was wearing seemed to slow me down; they appeared to be a barrier. So I pulled it off, and held it in my palm. Then, I continue running, while she keeps chasing after me. Twenty minutes later, I was exhausted. My legs were hotting me badly. My throat longed for water, but there was no water available for me to sip.

So I continued running faster, while she kept chasing after me. She didn't relent, and I too didn't relent. I kept running for my dear life. At a point, I fell to my knees and was breathing heavily like a starving dog. As she was approaching me, I stood up and started running again. I was scared of the cane in her hand because I didn't want to be flogged.

What baffled me most was that even though I tried as much to increase my ease, it seemed as though my legs were held captive. I couldn't run faster than my shadow despite all my effort. I found myself tip-toed, hit my toes on a stone and stumbled to my feet.

I was completely laying helplessly on the dusty ground as the woman ambled towards me with rage. I could see her eyes turning to different shapes of colour which I couldn't identify. My heartbeat increased; it was beating hard like a hummingbird.

"Since you want to prove to me that you're stubborn and you don't want to help a poor woman like me, I will show you that a stubborn fly always follows his ancestor to the grave." She said as her eyelashes fluttered.

Then, she raised the cane in her hand above her head to lash it at me. I could not stand up and run. It seemed as though my body was tied to the ground. At that moment, I felt like the ground should just open up and swallow me so that this woman would not lash the cane on my skin.

Meeting Dele brought back some old memories.

Dele was one of my old time friends. He was such a brilliant fellow back then in school. He was decent and very dedicated to the things of God.

He was one of the disciplined guys I so much respected. Many ladies wanted to have him back then on campus. He later ended up with one of my juniors.

I kept on wondering why he wasn't married to her. Many thoughts came to my mind.

Before we departed that day, we exchanged our contacts.

One glorious afternoon, he called me on phone. He told me he would love to see me.

Without wasting time, I fixed a day for both of us to meet. It was as if time should fly.

Two days later, we met at a restaurant.

Meeting him there was fantastic. We spoke about a lot.

"Dami, are you engaged?" He asked.

"Not at all." I said.

"What are you still waiting for? I'm sure you should be in your thirties?" He asked further.

"Yes, in fact, 32 years oo. Well, I'm waiting for God to perfect all that pertains to my marital life. I believe one day, my king will come around" I said as I managed to wipe the tears that were about to fall.

"I believe God will answer you, Damilola. Your king will come around soon. Just keep waiting on God to give you the best. Your delay is not denial. Remember, he who laugh last laugh best. It's not all about how far but how well. I believe God will answer you at the appointed time." He said.

"Thank you, Dele" I said.

"What about your marital life? Aren't you engaged?" I asked.

"Why did you ask?" He asked.

"To be sincere, I was scared when you told me you wanted to see me. I didn't want your woman to feel bad that you were going out with another woman. I don't want any woman to shout on my head that I'm a boyfriend snatcher." I said.

"Ahhh, Damilola, I'm not married. I don't have any woman in my life as I'm speaking right now. Just believe me.

Well, before we graduated from University, I had a lover. Things were going fine. I was really in love with her. She had everything I ever wanted in a woman.

I planned to marry her immediately we were done with our NYSC.

Unfortunately, I lost her😭😭😭. She was involved in a fatal accident that claimed her life." He said as he wiped his eyes.

He really loved her. I sensed it. It was a very strong love.

"I'm so sorry for the loss" I said.

"It's been 7 years that she left me." He said.

"Why didn't you get another woman? " I asked.

"Yes, I find it difficult to get a woman that is just like her. Many ladies are after money. Seun wasn't after my money. She was a purpose driven lady. Her purpose matched mine. She was just the best patner for me." He said.

May God give you a woman that is better than Seun in Jesus name" I said.

"Amen! Let's just keep fulfilling our God given purpose. Let's keep serving God. I believe that one day, God will perfect all that pertain to us. He will make our lives beautiful in Jesus name." He said as we were about to take our leave.

"At least, I will like to be your friend before the king comes around. I hope you're okay with that? " He asked.

"Yes, it's okay by me." I replied.

I felt on top of the world, meeting him once again.

He drew me closer to God. He brought out the best out of me. He was just there for me.

I told my mentor about it. She told me to pray about him very well.

I told her Dele was just my friend and nothing more. I made her to understand that Dele cannot settle for a lady like me that has no womb.

"Don't say that, dear. You don't know if he may be the one for you. Nevertheless, leave everything into God's hands. The man God has in store for you will accept you just as you are. He will accept your flaws. He will be right there for you. Yes, he will join you to fight some battles. He will accept you just like that. So, keep praying for the right man to come around." My mentor said.

The following week, I received a call from Dele....

"...My new relationship didn't even last up to 4 months, I dumped him for a slight wrong he did and moved to another relationship.

I got pregnant for him just 2 months we started dating. He wasn't someone I would love to marry and I wasn't ready to go into motherhood so I took the baby out without him knowing of both the pregnancy and ab.or.tion. I exited the relationship as well.

After getting rid of the pregnancy, I fell into serious depression. I stopped attending lectures, deleted my social media accounts, became very aggressive to people and was always indoors crying all day.

One day I stepped out to buy mineral and the little boy selling mineral told me that his drinks weren't chilled.

I flamed up and started shouting at him, asking him why he will bring out an unchilled drink to sell in the first place.

I was shouting at the top of my voice when a tall dark guy intervened to know why I was shouting at the small boy.

I switched my aggression to him immediately and this time I was shouting on top of my voice with tears in my eyes.

The guy just stood there looking at me as I was ranting. He wasn't embarrassed by the way I was talking to him and he didn't even talk back at me.

He just held me close and hugged me whispering "it's okay" to my ears... I broke down in tears right there in his arms. He just kept whispering "it's okay" and then he took out his Hankey and wiped my tears.

I felt embarrassed and didn't know if I should apologize or say thank you. He offered to walk me to where I would get a chilled drink and I nodded in affirmation.

He asked me to apologize to the little boy which I did and then we went to get the drink elsewhere. We got the drink and he also offered to take me home.

We got to my hostel, I gave him a seat and he asked what was annoying me so much to display what I did and why I was crying. I couldn't say a word cos each time I tried, tears will rush down.

He told me he has known me for quite a while from a distance and also noticed my recent odd behavior. He sensed something was wrong and has really been looking for opportunity to talk to me.

He talked to me for almost 30mins as though he was sent to tell me those healing words. He asked for my contact afterwards and left. I felt better and slept well that night..."
