Janis Lyn Joplin (Jan 19, 1943 – Oct 4, 1970) was an American singer and songwriter. One of the most successful and widely known rock performers of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals and "electric" stage presence. History made it known it was never just music, or the passion Janis Joplin displayed in performing it that made her an icon. It was the no-holds-barred gusto with which she lived every other aspect of her life as well. Far from being an empty cliché, "sex, drugs, rock and roll" was a revolutionary philosophy to many in the late 1960s,and Janis was its leading female exponent.
In the autumn of 1970, Janis was putting the finishing touches on the album that would prove to be the biggest hit of her career, but she did not live to see its release. Janis died of a heroin overdose in 1970, at the age of 27. She remains one of the top-selling musicians in the United States, with Recording Industry Association of America certifications of 18.5 million albums sold.

Folakemi Falana has requested for an urgent autopsy to determine the cause of Mohbad's death.



In a document posted on her Instagram story, the sister of Nigerian rapper popularly known as Falz, appealed the Chief Coroner to look into the cause of the death of late singer, Mohbad.

The document was sent from her father, Femi Falana's (SAN) law chambers on Monday, September 18, 2023.

She said: " We are aware of very tragic death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad who died on September 12,2023 under mysterious circumstances in Ikorodu, Lagos.It was alleged that the young man showed no signs of ailment before he left home and then, performed at a show in Ikorodu but died hours after his performance."

Referring to the Lagos State Coroner's Law, she went further to request that a corner's Inquest be conducted, to investigate the cause of the death of Mohbad, who died at 27.

She wrote: "Given the needless death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, we are compelled to request you use your good offices to cause a coroner's Inquest to be conducted into the cause of death of this young promising musician;and make appropriate recommendations pursuant to section 15, of the Lagos state coroner's law 2007, which provides that an Inquest should hold whenever coroner is performed that the death of a deceased person which his coroner's district is as a result of a death in a violent on natural or suspicious situation.We hereby request your leadership to conduct an Inquest into the circumstances surrounding his tragic death in Lagos state.And we are confident that your lordship will accede to our request with utmost urgency.Please, your lordship accept the assurances of our principal, Femi Falana SAN."

Nigerian Singer, Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has admonished people to live there lives on their own terms as people would move on when they die.

The singer stated this during a interview with Adesope Olajide on the Afrobeats podcast.He noted that he had just heard the news of Mohbad's death and the news had made him sad as he considers Mohbad like family.He, however, advised people to live their lives as people would not mourn them forever when they die.

The artiste said: "I'm gonna use this chance to say this: you have to live your life.If you are watching this right now, you have to know that you have to live your life.Look Mohbad just passed and it broke me down so much, everybody is moving on.I'm so sad cuz I just heard the news, he was my boy, like my family.So rest in peace man."

While asserting that people move on after mourning the dead, Lay went on to advise people to make their happiness their topmost priority.

"And at the same time, you go on Instagram and see everybody vibing and everybody is in the club.You have to live your life.You have to do what pleases you .You have to be in your 24/7.Don't let anybody kill that for you cuz as soon as you're done, all anybody can do is write RIP on their stories or their feeds and that's done," he added.

Nigerian rapper, singer and record executive, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, has opened up on why he did not sign Nigerian singer, Omah lay, to his record label called YBNL.

The rapper revealed that he had contacted Omah lay in a bid to sign him, after listening to his song named 'Bad Influence '.However, according to the reply relayed by Omah lay , he already had a contract with another label.

Olamide said:"Somebody sent me lay's song, 'bad influence'.I had to like search for him on Instagram.I messaged him that I want to sign him but he told me that he got a recording deal already."

The YBNL boss made this revelation during an interview with British-Nigerian media personality, Adesope Olajide, popularly known as Shopsydoo.

Additionally, Olamide disclosed that he had suffered depression for about four years which is as a result of not having hit songs within the said period.However, the whole situation became history when he released 'Wo' and 'Motigbana' which according to him, magically became hits.

"Till date, songs like 'Wo', 'Motigbana', are like magic to me.I thought I would never get myself again.I was going crazy," he added.

Nigerian singer, Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi , popularly known as Bella Shmurda, has broken silence over the death of his late close friend, Mohbad who died on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

The singer took to his Twitter (X) account to voice out his recent experience ever since his friend, singer Mohbad died.

In a statement posted on his X page, Shmurda claimed that Mohbad's spirit had not allowed him to rest since he died.

He wrote:" In the past few days I've tried my best not to carry phone and type anything.But Mohbad's spirit won't let me rest knowing I'm the only one that makes his spirit calm, by making those who made him live in fear and almost with nothing to feed on, never also get rest."

The singer went further to call on the police to arrest Marlian record CEO, Naira Marley, alongside his associate, Sam Larry.

"And he don start.Yes, I mean wahala just wan start like this.I NO GO GREE.And I mean Sam Larry and the whole Marlians music must be arrested.Make all of us dey police and if the Nigerian police are too weak as body to fish these people out, we (will) do it street, legal or illegal," he added.
